HERITAGE SERVICES

Working with listed buildings and other heritage assets requires care, technical understanding and a firm grasp of the planning and heritage context. We have decades of experience navigating these challenges, helping clients unlock potential while respecting a building’s historic character.

Our approach balances design ambition with conservation responsibility. We’re very familiar with resolving the often-competing demands of heritage preservation and modern living – whether that’s improving energy performance, upgrading services or reconfiguring internal layouts to meet a contemporary brief.

We’ve delivered projects across all grades of listing. From the restoration and conversion of Grade I listed Nash terraces in Regent’s Park to the Grade II* Fulham Town Hall, which we helped to obtain approval for its conversion into a hotel and Gaynes Park, a large Grade II* country estate project involving sensitive refurbishment, extensions and new-build houses within the site curtilage.

In addition to working on numerous Grade II listed properties, we’re experienced in conservation areas, locally listed buildings, and even sites that are not listed themselves but have an impact on the setting of nearby heritage assets.

Where appropriate, we will collaborate with heritage consultants to look at the history and evolution of a property and reconcile this with our proposals. As with other types of planning, it may be sensible to first obtain a consent that allows the project to progress and then revisit other aspects in isolation.

Whether it’s adapting a Georgian townhouse, converting a Victorian warehouse or extending a listed country home, we help clients sensitively reimagine historic buildings for modern life – ensuring they remain viable, sustainable and full of purpose for the future.
