New–Build Houses, St Johns Wood, London NW8
BBP were appointed in September 2010 to review and improve an existing scheme for a pair of 4000 sq.ft. town houses on a site in St Johns Wood. The approach that was adopted was to re-design the external envelope to give each house its own identity and to re-plan the internal layout to create better use of space and make more of the views over Regents Park. Features such as a gym, cinema and car stacker have also been introduced. A planning application was submitted in December 2010 and a decision due in February 2011. Project Value – £2.25M.

New-Build Houses, Chingford, London E4
BBP recently gained planning approval to redevelop a petrol station site in North London into a terrace of eight, three-bed, 1200 sq.ft. town houses. Although the site is in an area of traditional suburban houses it was decided to take a bold approach with the design and give the houses a strong contemporary look. This approach was commended by the planning committee who voted unanimously in support of the scheme. The detailed design and working drawing stage is due to commence in February 2011. In December 2010 BBP submitted a planning application for a development of 14 luxury apartments on the site of a public house. The scheme provides 22,000 sq.ft. of space comprising a mix of two and three bedroom units with a luxury penthouse and basement car parking and is designed in a contemporary style. BBP have been appointed as architect for a redevelopment of a petrol station into apartments. The scheme will have an internal area of 10,150 sq.ft. comprising 12 units with parking and will be designed in a traditional vernacular style. A planning application was submitted in February 2011. New-Build House, Chigwell, Essex
In February 2011 BBP gained planning permission for a 12,000 sq.ft. one-off luxury, seven-bedroom house on a green-belt site in Essex. In accordance with the owners brief the house is designed in a neo-classical style and comprises outdoor and indoor swimming pools, gym, sauna, cinema, hair dressing salon, card playing room plus numerous other leisure facilities and a separate three-bedroom gatehouse for staff. New-Build House, Hendon, London NW4
Construction work has started on site on a new house in Hendon. The 8,000 sq. ft. six bedroom house will be a family home for an owner/occupier. The house has been designed in an arts and crafts style by architectural designer Warren Chapman with BBP acting as executive architects. Completion is scheduled for Autumn 2011. Project Value – TBA.

In May 2009 BBP were appointed by the Sri-Lankan Government to design a new residence plus two semi-detached homes for the Sri Lankan high commissioner and his staff on a site in St John’s Wood. The main house will have a gross internal area of 8800sq.ft. comprising private quarters for the commissioner and his family on the upper floors plus facilities to cater for social functions and diplomatic receptions on the principal floors. The external appearance is in a neo-classical style to blend with the character of this conservation area. The staff homes have been designed in a traditional style and are located at the end of the garden to the main house. Construction work has started on site with completion scheduled for Autumn 2011. Halls of Residence Refurbishment and Extension, Euston, London WC1
BBP carried out a feasibility study for the refurbishment and extension to a student halls of residence in Central London. The building is Grade 2 listed and functions as the headquarters of the University’s Catholic Chaplaincy. As well as upgrading the existing student facilities in the front building and remodelling the existing chapel, the project will also involve replacing the rear outbuildings with a new five-storey extension to provide additional study bedrooms for both students and the resident monks. Full scheme design will commence once funding is secured. Project Value – £4.0M approx.

BBP obtained planning permission in April 2009 for a B1 industrial scheme on a backland site in Hackney. The site is made up of a builders yard and storage units plus out of date, ramshackle industrial facilities. The scheme comprises four new two-storey units of modern design, a new two-bedroom house and the conversion of an office building into a three bedroom family home. Construction is due to start on site in summer 2011. Project Value – £500K approx.

Residential Development, Epping, Essex
In Spring 2010 BBP obtained planning approval for this residential development in Essex. The project comprises the conversion of a Grade 2 listed mansion into seven high quality apartments and four new-build detached houses in the grounds. The houses have been designed in a contemporary style and set away from the mansion in a sheltered hollow so as not to impact on its setting nor that of the green belt. In early February 2008 BBP gained planning approval for a residential development of 30 detached houses and villas on a previously undeveloped open 3.6 hectare site. Each unit will have a minimum of four bedrooms and an individual external design based around an architectural theme to give the development visual variety. The project will involve the construction of a new road and servicing infrastructure. The construction work is due to complete in summer 2011. Project Value – £20M.

Pair of New-Build Houses, Greenwich, London SE10
BBP have recently won an appeal to secure planning permission for two new three-bed houses on a backland site in Greenwich that is currently being used for garaging. The houses are contemporary in style and have timber slatted privacy screening to the main elevation to prevent overlooking from adjoining houses. The design was praised by the appeal inspector as being a very good example of a sensitive and well designed scheme that had no impact on the surrounding properties. Project Value – TBC.
